Edward Perronet
1726-1792

The Perronet family  were  French Huguenot's, who eventually escaped to England fleeing  persecution. Edward was born in Kent (UK).  The Perronets were associates with the  Wesleys during the 'Evangelical Awaking' of the 18th Century. Edward was with John Wesley at Bolton in 1749 when a mob packed the street and in Wesley's words: 'threw him  down and rolled him in the mire; so that when he scrambled from them, and got into the house again, one could scarce tell what or who he was.''  Edward  became minister  of the Countess of Huntington's Chapel, Canterbury and later at an Independent Church in the city.

He died  on January 2nd. 1792 with these last words: "Glory to God in the height of His divinity! Glory to God in the depth of his humanity! Glory to God in His all suffering! Into His hands I commend my spirit."

Diadem ( 1st tune)
Miles Lane ( 2nd tune)

C.M.

1.

All hail the power of Jesus’ Name!
Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all.
Bring forth the royal diadem,
And crown Him Lord of all.

2.

Let highborn seraphs tune the lyre,
And as they tune it, fall
Before His face Who tunes their choir,
And crown Him Lord of all.
Before His face Who tunes their choir,
And crown Him Lord of all.

3.

Crown Him, ye morning stars of light,
Who fixed this floating ball;
Now hail the strength of Israel’s might,
And crown Him Lord of all.
Now hail the strength of Israel’s might,
And crown Him Lord of all.

4.

Crown Him, ye martyrs of our God,
Who from His altar call;
Extol the Stem of Jesse’s Rod,
And crown Him Lord of all.
Extol the Stem of Jesse’s Rod,
And crown Him Lord of all.

5.

Ye seed of Israel’s chosen race,
Ye ransomed from the fall,
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace,
And crown Him Lord of all.
Hail Him Who saves you by His grace,
And crown Him Lord of all.

6.

Hail Him, ye heirs of David’s line,
Whom David Lord did call,
The God incarnate, Man divine,
And crown Him Lord of all,
The God incarnate, Man divine,
And crown Him Lord of all.

7.

Sinners, whose love can ne’er forget
The wormwood and the gall,
Go spread your trophies at His feet,
And crown Him Lord of all.
Go spread your trophies at His feet,
And crown Him Lord of all.

8.

Let every tribe and every tongue
That bound creation's ball
Now shout in universal song
The crownèd Lord of all.
Now shout in universal song
The crownèd Lord of all.

(John Rippon added this verse in 1787)

O that, with yonder sacred throng,
We at His feet may fall,

Join in the everlasting song,
And crown Him Lord of all,

Join in the everlasting song,
And crown Him Lord of all!
