GalatiansStudy 21: Gal.

That
the blessing
of
Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ;
that we might
receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Brethren, I
speak after the manner of men; Though it be but a man’s
covenant, yet
if it be confirmed, no man disannulleth, or addeth thereto.
Now to Abraham and his
seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to
seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is
Christ. And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed
before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty
years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none
effect. For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more
of
promise: but God gave it
to Abraham by promise.

Now the LORD had said unto
Abram, Get
thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy
father’s
house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a
great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou
shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee,
and
curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the
earth be blessed.
Gen.12:1-3

A new heart also will I give you,
and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony
heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you,
and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments,
and do them.
Ezk.
36:26-27
Then
opened he their understanding, that they might understand the
scriptures, And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and
to rise from the dead the third day:
And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his
name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. And ye are
witnesses of these things. And, behold, I send the promise of my Father
upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye
be endued with power from on high.
Lk.
24:45-49
(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.) Jn.
7:38
Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear............. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. Acts.

For when God made promise to Abraham,
because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
Saying, Surely blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will
multiply thee. And so, after he had patiently endured, he
obtained the promise. For men verily swear by the greater:
and an
oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.
Wherein
God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the
immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in
which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a
strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope
set before us:

After these things the word
of the LORD
came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield,
and thy exceeding great reward. And Abram said, Lord GOD,
what
wilt thou give me, seeing I go childless, and the steward of my house
is this Eliezer of Damascus? And Abram said, Behold, to me
thou
hast given no seed: and, lo, one born in my house is mine
heir.
And, behold, the word of the LORD came unto him, saying, This shall not
be thine heir; but he that shall come forth out of thine own bowels
shall be thine heir. And he brought him forth abroad, and
said,
Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number
them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be. And he
believed
in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. And
he
said unto him, I am the LORD that brought thee out of Ur of the
Chaldees, to give thee this land to inherit it. And he said,
Lord
GOD, whereby shall I know that I shall inherit it? And he
said
unto him, Take me an heifer of three years old, and a she goat of three
years old, and a ram of three years old, and a turtledove, and a young
pigeon. And he took unto him all these, and divided them in
the
midst, and laid each piece one against another: but the birds divided
he not. And when the fowls came down upon the carcases, Abram
drove them away. And when the sun was going down, a deep
sleep
fell upon Abram; and, lo, an horror of great darkness fell upon
him. And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed
shall
be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and
they shall afflict them four hundred years; And also that nation, whom
they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with
great substance. And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace;
thou
shalt be buried in a good old age. But in the fourth
generation
they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not
yet full. And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down,
and
it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed
between those pieces. In the same day the LORD made a
covenant
with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the
river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates: The
Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites, And the
Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims, And the Amorites, and
the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

And
after threescore and two weeks shall
Messiah be cut off,
but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall
destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a
flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. And He shall confirm the covenant with
many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the
sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of
abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation,
and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Dan.
9:26-27
Now
I
say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth
of God, to confirm the
promises made unto the fathers:
